5th edition of the Research Awards
The aim of the Fundación Jesús Serra Research Awards is to raise awareness of the research work being carried out in the field of food and the impact of nutrition on health.
At Fundación Jesús Serra we promote different research projects in the field of biomedical science, food and nutrition, as well as research into cardiovascular and oncological diseases.
In support of research, the Fundación Jesús Serra hosts its Research Awards, which are aimed at acknowledging the excellence and level of research achieved by Spanish researchers in the fields of nutrition and diet, with an impact on health, within their scopes of basic, clinical, epidemiological and technological research.
Convinced of the importance of encouraging interaction in the field of research with the purpose of contributing to the advancement of science, our Foundation collaborates with several scientific bodies, to which many renowned doctors attend within the framework of our Visiting Researchers programme.
This initiative awards grants to internationally renowned scientists so that they can move to Spanish research centres and stay for several months.
On the one hand, deepening the scientific relationship between the hosting research group and the researcher's own centre and, on the other hand, starting new lines of action emerging from new scientific interests.
In 2009, we started a solid relationship with the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas (National Cancer Research Centre, CNIO), which is, both nationally and internationally, a public institution of reference in research, diagnosis and cancer treatment; in 2013, with the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (National Centre for Cardiovascular Research, CNIC) in order to encourage the advancement of studies in the field of cardiology and its transfer to treating patients; and most recently, in 2014, we began working with the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (Canary Islands Astrophysics Institute, IAC), which is a research centre international in scope with observatories in Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
Our aim is to bring science and technology closer to citizens, using an artistic and aesthetic vision, with the Fotciencia competition promoted by the Spanish Scientific Research Council (CSIC) and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
The aim of the Fundación Jesús Serra Research Awards is to raise awareness of the research work being carried out in the field of food and the impact of nutrition on health.
Through the Fundación Jesús Serra Research Awards we support research work, particularly in the fields of food and nutrition
Thanks to our collaboration with the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), the Spanish National Cardiovascular Research Centre and the Canary Islands Institute of Astrophysics (IAC) we provide scholarships through the Fundación Jesús Serra Visiting Researcher programme.
In our work we bring science and technology closer to citizens, using an artistic and aesthetic vision, with the Fotociencia competition promoted by the Spanish Scientific Research Council and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology.
The programme brings together international scientists to spend time at Spanish research centres, specifically the National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), the National Centre for Cardiovascular Research (CNIC) and the Canary Islands Astrophysics Institute (IAC).
We work with the Fundación Interhospitalaria para la Investigación Cardiováculos (Interhospital Foundation for Cardiovascular Research) in the grants programme for healthcare professionals.
